PEPSI REFRESH

The Turner County Connection needs your help. An application has been submitted to the Pepsi Refresh Project to support our Rural Smiles Dental Clinic that serves five counties, including Ben Hill, Irwin, Turner, Wilcox and Worth counties. On 9/1/10, Turner County Connection received notice that its application had passed the review process and is now eligible for voting. Approval for funding is dependent on the two projects in the United Stated that receive the most votes during the month of September.

Please go to the following website to read about the project and vote each day during September:

http://refresheverything.com/helpensureahealthysmile?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=good_luck.

The project on Pepsi Refresh website is called: Provide dental education and dental clinic services for the uninsured.  In order to vote, you will have to sign up for a password the first time you log in, but it only takes a few minutes.

This dental project was previously funded by a federal Rural Health Outreach Grant and later extended through a small grant from the Georgia Baptist Healthcare Ministry Foundation. The dental clinic services were provided by volunteer dentists and were  for income eligible adults and children (the uninsured) from these five counties. Since the Georgia Baptist grant ended on 12/31/09, local fundraising efforts have kept only basic expenses paid, including utilities, while additional grant funds have been sought. Patients needing dental services are still hurting, but without additional funding, the clinic, located in Ashburn, will have to be closed.

As stated earlier, two projects in the U.S. will be funded. Why can’t one of these be in south Georgia? It can be with your help. Please go online today and vote each day through September Vote Here:
