Turner County Connection….. A Communities In Schools Approach, Inc.

Vision Statement – All children in Turner County will grow up in a safe and healthy environment and become productive citizens.

Mission Statement – To develop, coordinate and deliver a broad range of needed health, social and emotional services to at-risk youth and families in Turner County.

Turner County Connection's Goals for Children and Families of Turner County –

1.   All school age girls will be free of pregnancy.

2.   All children will succeed in school.

3.   All children will grow up in strong, healthy and stable families.

· Abstinence Education - Reduce the teen pregnancy rate of children, ages 15-17. Increase awareness of students and their families in grades 6-12 regarding harmful sexual behaviors with an emphasis on abstinence until marriage.

· Community Awareness – A variety of community awareness projects regarding the “Abstinence Until Marriage” message.

· Mentoring and Tutoring – a mentoring and tutoring program for at-risk males.

· Parent Education Opportunities – Parenting workshops and classes are offered regarding the ‘Abstinence Until Marriage’ message.

· Teen Maze – An interactive hands-on experience for teens regarding life choices with an emphasis on abstinence with a variety of community agencies and organizations available.

· Youth Leadership Teams – Middle and high school students are chosen to participate in the teams. The teams meet on a regular basis to learn leadership skills and help with school related improvements and take a leadership role in making a positive impact in the school.
